Board of Zoning Appeals

The Jefferson Township Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA) is a five-member volunteer board, with one alternate, appointed by the Board of Trustees. This independent body is responsible for reviewing and deciding on specific land use cases as outlined in the Jefferson Township Zoning Resolution.

The BZA serves as the final authority on zoning interpretation and handles cases such as:

  • Variance requests

  • Conditional uses and special exceptions

  • Appeals of zoning decisions

  • Substitution or extension of non-conforming uses

  • Temporary structures and uses

  • Appeals under the Property Maintenance Code

The Board of Zoning Appeals ensures that land use decisions are fair, consistent, and aligned with the township’s goals. All meetings are open to the public, and residents are welcome to attend and participate in the process.
